But most importantly, tickets are now on sale for Gearfest! Read on…. We are in the dog days of summer here in the Sacramento Valley. Smoke fills the air from multiple wildfires plaguing the state. It is hot and hard to breathe, so activities outdoors are limited. My daily joy of walking the Gearhead Shop Dogs Dooly, Twix, and Luci is confined to the early mornings when it is still relatively cool. Vending has been stressful due to the extreme heat but it is also the only way to meet you, the loyal Gearhead customers, face to face, so I pull on my tank top, slather on the sunscreen and head out each weekend to set up a tent and show off the cool Gearhead Brand Merchandise that is available for sale. There’s a bunch of cool new stuff, including thee limited edition Kustom Kulture poster created and signed by tattoo artist extraordinaire Mike Adair from Electric Boogaloo Tattoo, as well as the new All in Ones (onesies) featuring the Gearhead Logo and the Sparkplug Logo for the littlest Gearhead. August also means Gearfest 2018 is right around the corner. Tickets are now on sale for perhaps one of the most fun events of the year. Saturday Sept. 29, 2018 from 12 noon-7 pm at The Blue Lamp (Sacramento, CA) we’ll take over the club and the surrounding parking lots to celebrate and rock out. This year, the fundraiser is for the Sacramento SPCA Behavior Dept., who work with dogs and their owners to rehabilitate the animal rather than surrender it. The Woolly Bandits headline the event this year; you can count on an eye-popping, jaw-dropping show when Christa and band take the stage. Gearhead recording artist TILLI will also be performing, as well as Color TV from LA (check out their track on the Rodney On The Rock Christmas Album), The Infamous Swanks featuring Jen Long from The Merry Widows (and our very first Ms. Gearhead) and the youngest band ever to perform at Gearfest, School of Rock Elk Grove’s house band Public Eye, featuring a revolving cast of enthusiastic youngsters learning how to tap into their inner rock stars. The whole shebang will include a Blessing of the Cars (bring your favorite ride for a blessing, hot rods, cool customs, traditionals and bikes get rock star parking) and a Ms. Gearhead contest, honoring and validating the women who work hard in this scene but are often overlooked. Proceeds this year go to the Sacramento SPCA Behavior Dept. who to work tirelessly to teach humans how to work with their dogs unwanted behaviors to keep them from being surrendered. Culinerdy Cruiser food truck will be on hand to feel the hungry crowd with gourmet sliders, fries and their mouth watering balsamic glazed Brussel sprouts. We’re still looking for sponsors so please get in touch if you are interested or have something really cool to donate for the raffle!
Gearfest 2017 t-shirts are on clearance now for the low low price of $10; these way, cool 2-sided garments commemorating last year’s event feature the bold word GEARFEST on the front, and the list of bands and venue on the back. If you forgot to pick one up, or weren’t able to attend to get one in person, now’s yer chance to snag one at this discounted rate while supplies last! Make sure to follow Gearhead on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest for show and product updates as well as cool pics from the past and live video. Don’t be the last one on the block to one to get the behind the scenes scoops! Finally, mark your calendar for other upcoming events where the Gearhead pop-up store will be: Cruise-in Monterey, Beers and Gears in Davis, and Grudge Fest at Sacramento Raceway. Till next time, keep the rubber on the road, Peace out, Rev. Michelle Haunold Lorenz Join Gearhead for the monthly Beers and Gears meet up at Sudwerks Brewing in Davis, CA! The 4th Thursday of each month, DJ Mikki Riff will be spinning the best of Gearhead Records as well as selling Gearhead merch. Sudwerks Brewery has a rotating tap line up each week, as well as a great place to show off your ride, meet up with friends and kick back for a cool one. Kid and dog friendly, this monthly event is free and open to all. Please drink responsibly.
The second Saturday of every month, you can smell the fuel, feel the rumble and taste the thrill of the drag strip. Sacramento Raceway hosts Grudge Fest, open to all types of vehicles to test their skills on the track if they pass an NHRA safety inspection. 1/4 mile Grudge Racing without display boards, just a time slip. Gates open at 4 pm, racing from 6-10 pm. Come out for the fun and while you're there, pick up a shirt from the Gearhead Pop Up Shop.
