Biography
When Sean Ono Lennon (son of that famous guy named John) first met the band in 2017, his first words were "The Roxy Suicide has got to be the coolest band name ever...two of my favorite bands put together (Suicide and Roxy Music)."
Forming in 2014, Dave Mansfield (of The Mansfields) and guitarist Olieshox formed The Röxy Suicide in 2014 as an outlet for their love of glam rock. The Mansfields were slowing down after heavily touring to promote their debut album on Gearhead Records, Cramp your Style (2007), consistently destroying stages everywhere from New York City to Norway, Hollywood to Berlin...sharing the stage with the likes of Billy Idol, The Offspring, L7, AFI, The Queers, Faster Pussycat, 7 Year Bitch, Demented R Go!, Horrorpops, and Dropkick Murphys to name only a very few. Heavy radio support from the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer (Rodney on the ROQ) in Los Angeles, and Little Steven Van Zant (star of The Sopranos and Bruce Springstein’s E Street Band) and his Underground Garage Radio Network cemented the band’s fame. But that urge to play more glam-influenced music persisted so Dave and Olieshox rounded out the Roxy Suicide line up with Roxy Roller (keyboards) and Ziggy Starbucks on the skins and hit the road again. Standing on the shoulders of The Sweet, Slade, David Bowie, T. Rex, New York Dolls, and The Ramones, The Röxy Suicide sling out hook-laden glam rock complete with raging synthesizer keyboards, power pop guitar riffs, platform heels and a taste of the excess that made the 70’s so addictive.
