GITOGITO HUSTLER
Biography
Four lovely ladies hailing from Tokyo Japan joined forces back in 1995, and instantly took the Japanese punk rock club scene by storm. Dressing in hand made matching outfits ranging from schoolgirl skirts to spangled flapper dresses, they would take the stage looking innocent and sexy, but then all hell would break loose-these girls could rock!!! Inspired by Joan Jett, Girlschool, Blondie, The Shangri-Las and The Supremes, the girls mixed pop-punk melodies sung all in Japanese with ferocious no-holds barred musicianship. Coming to the attention of Gearhead Records owner Michelle in 2004, a contract was quickly negotiated (with the help of Japanese speaking Hajime from The Spunks and Kenny from The Dragons). A 7" single Wonderful b/w Romantic was released followed quickly by a 6 track EP Gito Gito Galore and their first American full-length Love and Roll.
The girls toured the US 4 times promoting their records and winning over American crowds across the country with their charm, engaging banter, and total focus to putting on the best show they could. The rigors of touring were starting to take a toll on the girls' personal lives, and in 2006, singer Yago moved to the US to reunite with her new American husband. Shortly after, the band decided to call it quits, much to the disappointment of eager fans both in America and Japan. Today, the girls continue to play in various bands and solo projects. |
